Today's article comes from Friday's issue of the Los Angeles Times, titled "Sumo-Size Me! Michelle Obama's 'Let's Move' Campaign Gets Animated".
Over the last year, Michelle Obama has really been trying to further her "Let's Move" campaign and lower the rates of obesity in the United States. This week, "Let's Move" has marked it's on year anniversary, inspiring an animation company to create a cartoon in her honor.
Next Media Animation of Taiwan released an animation video with English subtitles called Michelle Obama Fights Obesity in America. The cartoon portrays Michelle Obama as a sort of super hero, including the spandex suit, who is fighting against animated versions of many fast food villains; including the King of Burger King and the Clown of McDonalds, among others. In addition to Michelle fighting the icons of fast food, the video also has the children who are eating burgers and fries sprout sumo-sized stomachs.
While the video is humorous, it does bring up a sobering point: that America is making huge strides in fighting against and exposing the fast food industry while the chains are continuing to grow and expand in other nations of the world. According to the article, the video does underscore one thing… "the world is getting the first lady's message", but whether they take it to heart is another story altogether.
Exercise: I'm still continuing on my sick streak and SO tired of it. Tomorrow is Yoga day and I cannot wait. Today, for you healthy folk out there, take the time to either complete another bike workout or go for a relaxing run.
Eat: Aaron came up with the most wonderful burger today from a show he watched on the Food Network called a Juicy Lucy. Basically, you put the cheese you would normally add on top later into the middle of the burger before you grill it. Then the cheese is all melted into the inside of the burger and it helps to keep the meat super juicy. We used Pepper Jack Cheese. I would SO highly recommend this to all of you! It was delectable.
Relax: I don't know about you, but I did a ton of relaxing today. If you turn on the Lifetime Channel, there are constant chick flick type movies playing this whole weekend in celebration of Valentine's Day. I was able to catch two of my favorites and I would recommend relaxing and watching some lovey dovey movies sometime in your day.
