Today I would like to introduce you all to another organization dedicated to good eating and good health: The Wheat Food Council. The Wheat Food Council is an organization whose mission is to increase wheat and other grain foods consumption through nutrition information, education, research, and promotional programs.
The council was originally created by wheat producers in 1972 when the U.S. consumption of flour products was at an all time low. Since then, the organization has grown to include members who are grain producers, millers, baking companies, tortilla companies, cereal companies, and other related associations. The Wheat Food Council is now the "only national organization that promotes the entire category of wheat-based foods; including bread, cereal, crackers, pasta, sweet goods, and tortillas."
The Wheat Food Council (WFC) is a national nonprofit organization formed to "help increase awareness of dietary grains as an essential component to a healthy diet." The council provides recommendations and recipes to families for all sorts of menus. They also provide information about health and nutrition as well as links to government agencies and other nutritional sites for further references. They are dedicated to forming "sound nutritional, educational, and promotional programs that reach health, nutrition, and opinion leaders, media, school foodservice directors, retailers, and consumers."
In visiting the Wheat Food Council's website, you can find all sorts of information about wheat and grains, you can gain access to a whole library of recipes that feature wheat foods, and there is even a link for kids to learn more about wheat foods through interactive games! Definitely check out their website to learn more! And take advantage of the free and healthy recipes.
If you are interested in becoming a part of this nonprofit organization, there are a few membership opportunities that the council offers. Take a look at them through the link on their website.
Thanks to organizations like the Wheat Food Council, our nation is becoming more and more aware of the foods that we need to keep a healthy diet, of how we can change our ways of eating, and of how we can help to fuel a change in the nutrition of the world.
Today's Workout: Today I did a biking workout. I set my level to 10 out of 25.
I set my time to 30 minutes and tried to keep my RPM to as close to 90 as possible.
Make sure to complete your cool down (five minutes) to bring your heart rate down at the end of your workout.
Today's Food Tip: Today I had pizza for dinner and I thought I'd share my favorite pizza topping with you: Jalapenos! My absolute favorite pizza is plain with jalapenos on top. It adds the perfect amount of spiciness to the sweet pizza sauce and cheese. Give it a try if you like spicy foods!
Today's Relaxation Activity: Being with friends can be a big stress reliever. I want to encourage you to plan a game night with your friends. It'll be a good time for catching up and laughing as well as enjoying playing games with others.
