More than a New Year's Resolution

Health. A word that encompasses so many things and is so important to everyone… yet we know so shockingly little about. Living in good health is the bread and butter to our happiness, but how do we attain it? Why is it so difficult to do, so easy to mess up? Why is our health always the first think we let go of? Perhaps we choose to put other things like our careers, friends, school, money first… before ourselves in order to find happiness. But by loosing focus on ourselves, we strip away the internal peace we all so desperately need to find our inner happiness. An inner peace that comes with putting ourselves first and working towards the goal of living in good health.

That is my intention in this blog; to work towards living in good health, to help others to do the same, and to learn a lot along the way. My goal is to write an entry every day for one full year. This goal is going to be very difficult to reach seeing as how busy life can be, but I have faith that I can do it. I will spend time working on and talking about four aspects of health that I find most important everyday. These are nutrition, exercise, relationships, and mental health. Everyday I will provide my readers with a daily workout: My workout of the day, as well as tips on foods and a relaxing, de-stressing activity for the day. Finally, learning about our bodies, minds, and our society is the key to learning what health is and how to obtain it. Therefore, I will be starting every entry with a short lesson. Talking about a whole slew of topics I have come up with for the year and pulling from a variety of sources: college courses I've taken, news, magazines, novels, movies, and more. In writing this blog, I am practicing what I preach in order to reach my own goal of living a healthy life, of continuing on my quest for knowledge, and for helping others to do the same. I hope that you will join me. Together, we can help each other meet our challenges, obtain our goals, and find our inner peace and happiness.

Happy New Year!
