Jamie has now been in Huntington for two months. He really wants to work on getting the whole community involved. He starts out this episode by visiting Rod's radio station. Jamie says that he is the biggest enemy of the revolution he is trying to start. Jamie talks about his kitchen where people can come to learn to cook and get advice on nutrition. Jamie tells Rod that he has to either be afraid of him or go with him. He really wants to work with Rod to help him transform during the show. So, Jamie makes a bet with Rod… that if he can get 1000 people to cook in his kitchen, then Rod will help him on his revolution.
Jamie wants to focus on his main project: his kitchen. He wants people to get into his kitchen to learn how to cook. Jamie goes on television programs and radio stations to try to get people to come to his kitchen. In the meantime, Rod is bashing his bet and encouraging people to stay home. While Jamie has only five days to get the 1000 people to cook, he believes he can do it.
Jamie realizes that the town is based around Marshall College. So he goes to the school to get the students to cook. He knows that students want inexpensive, easy food that they can make and that he can teach them how to cook. They teach the kids how to do a dance based off cooking a stir fry. The hope is to make this a promotional show that will encourage people to come to the kitchen: called a flashbulb.
At 12:00, the students from the dance group meet up in the middle of the school to perform their dance… without anyone knowing about it. With Jamie's signal, the dance begins. The dance was a huge success and was able to help Jamie tell the students about his kitchen.
On the day of his cook-a-ton, Jamie closes down an entire street to put up tables and teach a bunch of people in the street how to cook. He was able to do 45 people at a time. While his cook-a-thon helps to win his bet, it is also getting the word out on what he is doing and what his kitchen is all about. Many of his friends were able to make it out to the cook-a-thon. Many people turned out, including Rod who came just to see what Jamie's progress looked like.
Throughout his progress, Jamie takes pictures of all of his students and tapes them to a board. That way he can see how he is doing! With two days to go, Jamie still has over 500 people to cook a recipe. Since he can't do another cook-a-thon, he decides to go around to different people and groups to get them to cook together; such as a construction company and the individuals from the schools.
When it comes down to his second to last day, Jamie is looking like he is not going to meet his 1000 people goal. As a last ditch effort, Jamie wants to get Rod to actually understand why Jamie is here and to get him to help Jamie out in getting his last 200 people or so. Jamie takes Rod to a funeral home in order to get the information on the bad side of this revolution, the death that fueled it. They go and view a casket that is two times the size of a normal casket as well as talk about the difficulties in taking care of the death of an obese individual. Jamie hopes that Rod sees that his revolution is not about cooking lettuce, its about saving lives.
Next, Rod goes and visits with some of Jamie's friends - the people who he's worked on changing. The individuals in the group tell their stories to Rod. Jamie tells Rod that he could be talking to a senator but that he believes Rod, a man who these people listen to every morning, has way more power over people than a senator who has to watch what he says in order to stay in power. The Rod can make a big difference.
On the last day of Jamie's bet, Rod comes to Jamie's kitchen to help advertise for his 1000 people. Rod feels changed, that he needs to help Jamie in order to help his citizens get better. So when Jamie gets to his kitchen, he finds is absolutely packed. Rod says that it doesn't matter who wins the bet so long as the city of Huntington comes out on top. Jamie has Good Morning America show up as well as the Governor of West Virginia. The Governor sees this as an opportunity to help get the country on the move to take care of themselves. Jamie was able to even get Rod to cook as his 1000th person.

Eat: Continuing on the topic of vegetable benefits, today I'd like to talk about some healthy benefits of different beans. Everyday beans are rich in protein, fiber, folate, potassium, and iron. Edamame beans (or green soybeans) contain heart-healthy fats, protein, fiber, folate, potassium, and iron. Finally, green beans contain fiber, vitamin K, vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, and folate.
Relax: This morning I woke up and decided to catch an episode or two of Sandra Lee's Semi-Homemade while I sewed up a bunch of flowers to put on the tops of some wall letters. I know it is work, but I love making the flowers and projects in our studio at home… especially since I can watch a favorite show while I do it!
