April Materials and Equipment/Announcement

Welcome to April! Hopefully we will get lots of showers this month to enjoy the flowers of May. Which means… Spring is practically here! Can you believe it? This month, I am going to be talking about Non-Profit Health Organizations and Government Programs. I will be discussing the different kinds non-profit organizations out there as well as some of the government organizations that affect our health policies.

In order to follow along with the topic and discussions for this month, you will need to get the following materials and equipment:

Book: "Food Inc." edited by Karl Webber


The book will be broken down into four sections, one section for each week. I will continue to do book discussions on Wednesdays. The first section will cover chapters 1-3; the second section will cover chapters 4-6; the third will cover chapters 7-9; and the final section will cover chapters 10-13.

Movies: We will be watching "The Corporation" on  Friday, April 8th and "Food Inc." on Friday, April 29th.


Magazines: I will be talking about magazine articles that come out of the monthly editions of Health Magazine, Women's Health Magazine, Natural Health Magazine, and Experience Life. I may also read other magazines as the months progress, but I will notify you if I do.

Workout Equipment: For this month, I have broken down the days into types of workouts based on the day of the week and the equipment you will need for that day.
Sunday = Swimming gear and yoga mat (Swimming and Yoga)
Monday = Running Shoes and Gear, Yoga Mat (Running and Yoga)
Tuesday = Swim Suit, Cap, Goggles, Kickboard, Pull Buoy (Swimming)
Wednesday = Running Shoes and Gear, Yoga Mat (Running and Yoga)
Thursday = Swim Suit, Cap, Goggles, Kickboard, Pull Buoy (Swimming)
Friday = Yoga Mat or Soft Surface (Stretching)
Saturday = Running Shoes, Biking Gear, Stationary Bike (Biking)

ANNOUNCEMENT!! In addition to writing my normal daily posts this month, I will also be giving out  daily dinner menus. These are to give you some ideas on healthy foods as well as to keep me on track with cooking healthily for this month! Each day of the week will be a different kind of food in order to encourage eating a wide variety of foods and different types of meats. So here's the breakdown day titles:

Sunday = "Slow-Cooker Sundays"
Monday = "Meatless Mondays"
Tuesday = "Tuna/Tilapia Tuesdays"
Wednesday = "World-Food Wednesdays"
Thursday = "Taco Thursdays"
Friday = "Fish Fridays"
Saturday = "Sandwich Saturdays"
